After my old curtains became faded and old, I needed to replace them with new ones. I have a large slider in my dining area, and it gets a lot of sun shining through. Although I like the natural light the sun offers, there are times when I want to darken the room a bit.
So, I was looking for room-darkening curtains. I would rather not spend a lot of money, and I was looking for something in a solid color to match the decor in the dining room.
I found these beautifully handmade velvet curtains and I immediately liked the color of them.
The curtains come folded up in a package, so when I got them, they were pretty wrinkled. The directions said not to iron them on either side, but I had to do something to get rid of the wrinkles before hanging them. So I first sprayed them with a bit of water until they were damp, then put them into the dryer on low.
Moreover, they slide along that rod easily for opening and closing. I was very impressed at how they blocked out the sun’s rays and darkened the room. Not only did they do a good job of blocking the bright light, but they were very attractive in design and felt like high-quality curtains. They were much softer than I expected them to be. In fact, they felt almost velvety to the touch.
There are more colors to choose from, too, but black was my favorite. I can’t say how well the other colors would be at blocking out the light, but black works great.
Overall, I would recommend these curtains to anyone who wants curtains that look admirable, and also block light from a room. They would be great for a child’s room, too, or any room that needs to be dimmed at times.
The fact that I love the look and function of these curtains make them a good value. I am hoping to have them for many years, and when they get old or faded, I plan to replace them with the same ones.
